Open Enrollment
All undergraduate courses offered in Ventura are available to the general
public on a space available basis through Open Enrollment. This
program is ideal for those who want to study in a university setting
for personal or professional development, and those who are considering
returning to school. Class participation, assignments, grading options,
and credit are the same as for UCSB students. Students who wish to pursue
a degree should consult with an advisor prior to enrollment. More detailed
information is available on the UCSB
Extension Web page

Intersegmental Cross-Enrollment
Students from campuses of the University of California, the California
State University and the California Community Colleges are permitted
to enroll in a maximum of one course per academic term at a campus of
either of the other systems on a space-available basis. The requirements
for participation include: the student has completed at least one quarter
at the home campus, has paid fees at the home campus and is enrolled
in at least six units for the cross-enrollment term, has a grade-point
average of at least 2.0 for work completed, is a California resident
and has the appropriate academic preparation for the course. If you are
interested in cross-enrollment at a California State University or California
Community College campus you need to contact those institutions directly
to start the process. There may be a $72 administrative fee charged at
the cross-enrollment campus. Coursework completed through this plan will
apply to your UCSB degree only if approved by the dean of your college.
Approval is granted only in very limited circumstances. (Students from
California State University or Community College campuses interested
in cross-enrollment at UCSB should contact the Office of the Registrar
at UCSB for more information.)
